OUR HISTORY
1899
Jacob Shank, a Lancaster County, PA pioneer pharmacist who created a compound flavoring of vanilla bean to improve the taste of his medicines, established a separate business to offer his services to people for food flavoring.
1959
Shank’s business was sold to Paris “Peppy” Rohrer. One of his customers, Lillian Lehman, purchased the business in 1967.
1978
Lillian’s son, Jeffrey Lehman, helped guide Shank’s through significant organic and acquisition growth, as well as broadening its product line to include

Shank’s has been headquartered in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania since its inception. The Shank’s 110,000 square foot facility houses current operations, sales and customer service, manufacturing, packaging, and distribution.
