Did you know we were started in 1899 by Jacob Shank, a Lancaster County, PA pioneer pharmacist who created a compound flavoring of vanilla bean to improve his medicines’ taste? He established a separate business to offer his services to people for food flavoring.
In 1967 Lillian Lehman purchased the business, and in 1978 her son Jeffrey helped guide Shank’s through significant organic and acquisition growth and broadened its product line to include private label and industrial products.
